The Destined One's journey in Black Myth: Wukong is not meant to end with the final chapter alone. A hidden conclusion waits beyond the credits, and only those who are willing to dig into the most obscure corners of each region can uncover it. This guide outlines the requirements for the secret ending without revealing any narrative spoilers, focusing instead on the locations, bosses, and side quests that must be completed. Players who wish to experience everything the game has to offer will find detailed directions below.

To reach the secret ending, players must defeat the final bosses of the hidden areas in each chapter and complete the Treasure Hunter side quest. The order in which these tasks are completed does not matter, and the Treasure Hunter quest can be started as soon as Chapter 3 becomes accessible. After all secret area bosses have fallen and the Treasure Hunter quest has been finished, the only remaining task is to complete Chapter 6 and defeat the game's final boss. Once the credits roll, it is important to choose the option to continue rather than starting a New Game Plus. The true conclusion is then reached by returning to the Great Pagoda, which can be found by crossing the bridge near the Snow-Viled Trail shrine. There, a familiar character from the Treasure Hunter quest will be waiting, and a new area with difficult bosses will open the way to the secret ending.

The Hidden Areas and Their Bosses

Chapter 1: Ancient Guanyin Temple

The first hidden area is unlocked through the Three Bell quest. The first bell sits near the Outside the Forest shrine, inside the arena where Guangzhi is fought. A second bell is located a short distance beyond the arena of Guangmou. The third bell waits in the arena where the Whiteclad Noble appears. Once all three bells have been rung, the Ancient Guanyin Temple becomes accessible as an arena, and the boss Elder Jinchi must be defeated there.

Chapter 2: Kingdom of Sahali

Accessing the Kingdom of Sahali involves a quest given by a Boar NPC. The boar can initially be found in the Fright Cliff area after moving past the Rockrest Flat shrine, breaking a wooden fence, and entering a large open space. The robed figure sitting on the ground asks for a Sobering Stone. This item can be obtained by crossing the bridge from the Windrest Bridge shrine and breaking a glowing jar in the farthest corner of the village beyond. After delivering the stone, players must meet the boar again at the Crouching Tiger Temple, where a Jade Lotus is requested. Exhausting the dialogue leads to the next step.

Before returning to the boar's original location, players should defeat the First Prince of Flowing Sands to obtain the Arhat Gold Piece. Taking this key item back to the boar triggers a challenge. Victory over the boar convinces the NPC to open the gate to the Kingdom of Sahali.

Chapter 4: Purple Cloud Mountain

The path to Purple Cloud Mountain requires facing the Venom Daoist several times. From the Pool of Shattered Jade shrine in the Webbed Hollow, players should head right and continue through a cave until an Odd Cocoon appears in front of a house. Attacking the cocoon releases the Venom Daoist, who must be defeated to trigger a cutscene. Later in Chapter 4, near the Court of Illumination shrine in the Temple of Yellow Flowers, the route back along the main path should be taken, followed by a left turn and a climb through a house and up two staircases. Another left turn leads down a slope to an arena where the Venom Daoist appears for a two-phase fight. Once defeated again, the surrounding wall transforms into a portal to Purple Cloud Mountain.

Chapter 5: Bishui Cave

The final hidden area is reached from the Ashen Pass I shrine in the Woods of Ember. A group of enemies fights nearby, and among them stands the Pale-Axe Stalwart boss. Defeating this boss allows a conversation in which the NPC asks players to eliminate five enemies. The Brown-Iron Cart is located upward from the Pale-Axe Stalwart's position, at the top of the stairs to the right. The Gray-Bronze Cart is closer to the Height of Ember shrine, past a burned gate with a closed door. The Crimson-Silver Cart appears near the Emerald Hall shrine, where the Pale-Axe Stalwart will be found fighting it; helping the NPC is necessary. The fourth enemy is already dead, and its body can be found by traveling from the Valley Entrance shrine downward and jumping into an open space past some flamlings. The final enemy, the Rusty-Gold Cart, waits near the Cooling Slope shrine in the Field of Fire. After defeating the Rusty-Gold Cart, players must talk to the Pale-Axe Stalwart lying in the arena and interact with the nearby gate to unlock Bishui Cave.

The Treasure Hunter Quest

The Treasure Hunter quest spans three steps in Chapter 3 and is required before the secret boss fight can be unlocked. It begins at the North Shore of the Bitter Lake shrine in the Bitter Lake area. Following the coastline and turning right through a red gate leads to an NPC being attacked by three enemies. After the enemies are defeated, the NPC must be spoken to until the dialogue repeats.

The second step takes place near the Towers of Karma shrine. For those who have not unlocked it, the shrine can be reached from the Forest of Felicity shrine by moving forward, turning left after the second wooden gate, and descending. The Ring of Fire spell must be equipped for this part. From the Towers of Karma shrine, the same NPC is found sitting on a rock. Casting Ring of Fire next to the NPC triggers a cutscene, and the dialogue should be exhausted again.

Finally, the Melon Field shrine must be reached. From the gate in front of the Forest of Felicity shrine, turning right and descending to the bottom of the area, crossing the water, and jumping down from the farthest corner by two fires leads to the Melon Field shrine. In the adjacent arena, the Green-Capped Martialist boss waits. Defeating this opponent completes the quest and unlocks the final part of the secret ending path.

Reaching the True Ending

After all the hidden area bosses have been defeated and the Treasure Hunter quest has been completed, players need only finish Chapter 6 and defeat the game's final boss. Instead of starting a new journey, continuing after the credits allows access to the Great Pagoda. There, the path to the secret ending finally opens, giving the Destined One a chance to experience the true conclusion of Black Myth: Wukong.
